  • A senior housing project financed in part by a tax abatement package from the Erie County IDA had its grand opening last week. [Buffalo Business First]
  • The Fairport IDA is using grant money from ESDC to remove asbestos and petroleum-contaminated soil from two vacant properties. [Fairport-East Rochester Post]
  • The Orangeville Town Board approved a host community agreement with a wind energy developer in conjunction with a PILOT agreement between the company and the Wyoming County IDA. [Arcade Herald]
  • Well played, Lockport IDA. You should be skeptical about businesses that say they need subsidies when they probably don’t. [Buffalo News]
  • The Rome City School District is threatening to sue the Oneida County IDA for approving a 25 year zero-sum PILOT agreement with an energy company that supplies heat and electricity to tenants at the former Griffiss Air Force base. A consultant for the IDA thinks the whole thing is meritless because the infrastructure at the base was never intended to be taxable. [Utica Observer-Dispatch]
  • Riverhead officials are a little jealous of a YouTube video that the Brookhaven IDA produced for its “Blight to Light” initiative… but Riverhead doesn’t want to admit that it’s got any blighted property, it just wants to promote redevelopment downtown. [Riverhead Local]
  • After a string of resignations at the Greene County IDA, the interim executive director explained that the “the IDA is in a time of transition. The winds of change sometimes blow the furniture off the porch and sometimes they blow the roof off the house. We are somewhere in the middle of that.” [Daily Mail]
