Leadership Changes in Store for Dozens of Public Authorities in New York?

As reported this week in the Albany Times Union, the executive directors of the New York Power Authority, the Long Island Power Authority and the New York Thruway Authority have stepped down, paving the way for Governor Andrew Cuomo to appoint successors and put his thumbprint on public authority reform efforts in the state. The Governor controls appointments to the boards of 41 of New York’s largest authorities. Perhaps some of the changes may also include a downsizing in the number of public authorities, as advanced by the Governor most recently through his appointment of the SAGE Commission.
